| Photo Submission Guidelines |
SierraStock.com welcomes quality original images with great marketing potential from both professional and amateur photographers alike. The edgier the image, the better. But we're pretty much open to anything and everything that doesn't offend a modest sense of decency.
All images submitted to SierraStock.com must conform with the terms specified in the Photographer's Agreement. It is important that all participating photographers read and understand the Agreement and stay abreast of any notification of changes to the Agreement.
Image Specifications
Images must be submitted in JPG format, at the highest resolution available, with compression settings set at maximum quality/minimum loss. For images taken with digital cameras, it is recommended that the original captured image be submitted, as opposed to images that have been edited/altered in an image editing application. Ideally, images should be at least 3000 x 2000 pixels in size.
Sierra Stock will accept digital scans from 35mm, 2¼" and larger transparency formats, although digital scans from prints are not recommended. Images must by RGB (8 bit per channel) format.
A note to Photoshop users: While we all are amazed at the type of effects that can be achieved with today's image editing applications, we don't want SierraStock.com to become a showcase for filter effects. Preference will always be given to original photography over derivative works. Photo compositions are still invited, however, all image elements used in the creation of composited works must conform with the terms specified in the Photographer's Agreement. Photo compositions incorporating image elements that are not the original work of the photographer are prohibited.
Image Restrictions
Photographers may not upload content that is unlawful. Photographers may not post to or use SierraStock.com to transmit sexually explicit images or other content that is deemed by SierraStock.com to be generally offensive to the public or harmful to minors.
By uploading images to SierraStock.com, the photographer warrants:
- He or she is the owner of the copyright thereto and that all content uploaded to the Website is original and not derivative.
- The content does not depict subject matter in a manner that violates any laws.
- The uploaded content is not intended to harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress, unwanted attention, or discomfort upon another person or entity.
Any SierraStock.com member photographer found in violation of any of these terms will be subject to the termination of his/her account without notice.
Commercial Useage Limitations
Images containing third-party trademarks and/or featuring third-party copyrighted works may be uploaded to SierraStock.com and licensed for non-commercial use only. Any such images will be flagged as suitable for non-commercial use only, and buyers of such images will be notified of the image useage limitations prior to completion of the transaction.
Property and Model Releases
The photographer is solely responsible for maintaining complete and accurate model and property release records for all images for which such a release is or may be required. The photographer agrees to provide SierraStock.com with photocopies of model and/or property releases for every recognizable person and/or property depicted in images uploaded to the Website.
SierraStock.com suggests that all model/property releases permit image usage for "sensitive issues," which may include uses pertaining to matters such as sexual preferences, violence, drug use, illness, hospice, aging and the like.
Revision of Photo Submission Guidelines
These guidelines are subject to revision at any time. SierraStock.com member photographers will be notified of changes to these photo submission guidelines, and it is incumbent upon members to stay abreast of changes to these guidelines.
